Simulation Webinars

This series of four webinars was presented to Caltrans staff statewide on all aspects of simulation modeling. Simulation modeling is used by Caltrans districts to assess traffic operations on freeway mainline facilities as well as system interchanges, arterial interchanges, ramps and ramp terminus intersections. The webinars cover introduction to simulation modeling, application of models, how to develop and calibrate models to current conditions, how to scope out a simulation modeling project and how to use, interpret and apply simulation model output for Caltrans projects. The information ranges from introductory overview of simulation modeling to detailed information on model development, scoping and application at the project level. Many examples of simulation models on Caltrans facilities are presented in the webinar presentations along with sample animations and videos which illustrate model results on a range of facility types.
