This website is designed for Caltrans staff who prepare and analyze travel demand model and simulation model outputs. It provides an overview of the transportation planning process with an emphasis on the basics of travel demand modeling and forecasting and simulation model development and application.
Each Caltrans district and HQ has its own customized web page with training modules based on actual projects. These projects were constructed in TransCAD or CUBE using district-specific regional travel demand models and VISSIM, AIMSUN and Synchro simulation and operations models. In addition to district-level training for both travel demand modeling and simulation, this website includes statewide webinars that were presented for simulation model training.
